My Jellyfish told me
He was forced to be a man, then died
The stars float, the planets go
What’s left to mold?
When the ego explodes
Bury the light, hide in the crowd
Whirling around, the afterglow
A sensitive soul, a broken bone
That’s what they saw — the ashes galore
Their manifestation runs wild in my head
I can not stop my own rumination
until it fades away
But my belly can tell
That my feelings won’t be healed
(At all)
And my belly can tell
That my thoughts were never real
I’m looking for the waves and beach and the sounds
I’m looking for the dreams and the scars (they don’t wanna be found)
I’m looking for the pains and the loves and the bounds
And I’m looking for the, looking for
I’m looking for the waves and beach and the sounds
I’m looking for the dreams and the scars (they don’t wanna be found)
I’m looking for the, I’m looking for
I don’t wanna feel this way
All these fake memories, fake memories, fake memories
It can’t be real
Like a stone, like an empathy stone
I don’t know what I’m like

Can we imagine a paradise that exists in the future, but reflects the present time simultaneously?
—— vii M attempts to build a nirvana between earth and moon where people are still trapped in the mundanity despite of their wish to escape from the earthly life.
<Sublunary>
Blended with both underwater and anaerobic texture, a Prussian blue living space filled with an air called “New Oxygen”. People’s consciousness is scatterdly floating in this medium. A glass helmet is crucial for survival, while all the background sounds and communications are automatically transmitted outside the helmet. In order to survive and maintain the remaining bit of purity and privacy in the midst of it all, a music-only vacuum space is secured for our own independency inside the helmet.
“One for all, to comprehend, to experience, to create. I just want to magnify all my sensations to the max.”
<Sublunary> is conceptualized for this fictional space, but is also composed for the purest sound left inside the helmet. Penetrating the boundless ocean, earth, and dry moon, “New Oxygen” merges the characters of two spaces: one is flooded with humid dream and primitive perception, while the other stretches across the horizon with tensions and suppressed emotions. Those two intertwined planes become ten emotionally-complicated pieces, exhibiting the illusionary image of “a world beneath the moon”. vii M is both a narrator and a wanderer.
Entanglement, evolution, transformation. The future or the present. An endless chasing game.

Born in Chengdu, Ming Qin (vii M) is a Shanghai-based independent music producer, bassist and DJ.
After relocating to Shanghai since 2021, Ming Qin started to be known as “vii M” for her solo project and live performances. She wanders through the mysterious and trippy grooves, drifting within the experimental and rich sounds. In her creative process, by combining both digital and analog, acoustic and electronic elements, she blurs the established structures, unveiling the imageries hidden behind the sonics.
In 2022, by bringing her inner self forward, vii M deepens her connections between identity and music. She planned to release her debut album <Sublunary>, that’s filled with mellow basslines, organic synth sounds and muttered spoken words to conjure up an electronica cosmos . These pieces were inspired by this concept “a world beneath the moon”, a whimsical and sonically diverse journey, a collision of polarization, gradually coming into her own.
